Update from the vicar-chaplain…

Greetings everyone,

I wanted to pass along an update on how we are recovering after our cycling accident. We wanted to thank you so much for all of your prayers and your help and how much of a blessing you’ve been to us since we had our incident. We have been overwhelmed by the grace everyone has shown us which has helped immensely in the healing and recovery process.

As you may have heard Bettina suffered from a head injury and a broken elbow and I have had several broken bones. We are both healing well but I need to go into hospital on Monday to have a plate put in my clavicle to help it heal. I’m not looking forward to another surgery but this seems to be the best option for the long term. I have yet to hear back about the injuries to my spine so I am still wearing a neck brace. Hopefully I will have a CT scan in the near future so that they can tell me how the vertebrae which were fractured are healing.

Suffice to say this has been a very difficult period for all of us. We were so much looking forward to enjoying the end of our sabbatical by traveling together as a family. This was obviously not in the Lord’s plans 😉 But we are so thankful that we are healthy and everyone is safe and that we have such a wonderful support from our church family at St Edwards. It will be another 4 to 6 weeks of healing and hopefully, if all goes well, will be ready to go at the end of the summer.

Blessings to you all and I look forward to the day when we can join again in worship together.
