The week commencing 17 November

On Saturday (17th Nov) at St Edward’s there will be a contemplative Eucharist at 6.30 pm, with much silence.

Sunday will begin as usual with a Prayer Book communion service at 8.00 am.

The 11.00 am service will be a Eucharist at which Malcolm will talk about sacramentalism, i.e. about seeing the presence of God in ordinary things, as the Eucharist sees Christ present in bread and wine.

At 3.00 pm Malcolm and his band will be performing outside St Edward’s as part of the switching on of Christmas Lights.

At the 5.00 pm Eucharist Matt Russell will continue his series of sermons on Old Testament themes, talking about Abraham and Sarah as a model of waiting. It has been suggested that about once a month a group might like to go to a pub after the 5.00 pm service and we might try that this Sunday.

On Monday at 9.00 pm there will be a student-led Taize service. All welcome.

On Tuesday at 5.30 pm Fraser will give the second of his two talks on Christianity and Counselling, looking at this from the perspective of Christianity.

On Thursday at 12.30 pm, there will be prayers for reconciliation and healing, with laying on of hands for those who wish to receive it.

On Friday there will be a Prayer Book Communion service at 10.30 am, led by Alan Cole. The meditation group will meet at 5.30 pm, led by Fraser.

Looking ahead, on Monday 26th November at 8.30 pm the choir of Girton College will give a performance of Britten’s Ceremony of Carols at St Edward’s
