The St. Edward’s Scriptorium is open to Postgraduate students of any discipline as a place of study and fellowship during term time. The aim of the scriptorium is to make a difference in the lives of young scholars by enabling them to think theologically about their academic pursuits in light of their Christian faith. We hope to inspire confidence in the fact that faith is not a private, spiritual matter but should have its voice in the public square. The intersection of intellectual and spiritual discipleship is critical within the university setting and we hope to enable Christian scholars within a community of other Christians to grow in their ability to produce works that will benefit both the academy and society.
The Scriptorium meets on Tuesdays/Wednesdays at St. Edward’s, but the church will be open for study other days of the week also. Prayer begins at 9am with the study space available from 9am to 5pm. Regular tea/coffee and lunch breaks are taken and a community lunch is shared by those participating in the Scriptorium on Tuesdays/Wednesdays. The daily schedule is as follows using the Scriptorium Daily Prayer Booklet:
- 9am Prayer
- 9.15 Study
- 1100 Tea/Coffee Break
- 1130 Study
- 1300 Lunch Break
- 1400 Study
