At St Edward’s this week we have the following services:

Friday (4th March)

10.30am  BCP Communion

Sunday (6th March)

8.00am BCP Communion

11.00am Contemplative Morning Prayer “Faith persecuted”

In this service, we will again consider the persecuted church worldwide, with readings, meditations and prayers that focus on the difficulty many Christians face, especially in Nigeria and North Korea. In the light of it being both Mothers’ Day and close to the Women’s World Day of Prayer 2016, our prayers will also focus on the particular challenges faced by Christian women.

5.00pm Evening Prayer (Chris Martin)

In addition at St Edward’s this week:

Friday (4th March)

The meditation group meets at 1.00pm, as usual. All are welcome.

At 7.00pm in the church we have the second of five Lenten discussion groups “Lent through painting” based on “Christ in the wilderness” (Stephen Cottrell), using the paintings of Stanley Spencer. All are welcome, whether or not you were able to come to the first of the five discussions. These discussions are being facilitated by Hannah Stone and Edwin Hall. It would be helpful, though not essential, to get your own copy of Stephen Cottrell’s “Christ in the Wilderness : Reflecting on the paintings by Stanley Spencer”. If you can, contemplate the painting “Consider the Lilies”, and read Cottrell’s meditation on it. Bring the book along : the more copies the merrier (Edwin bought his copy for £9.99 from the CLC Bookshop on 88a Regent Street).

The Thanksgiving Service for Ray Hocknell will take place at 2.30pm.

Nicholas Ferrar is remembered in the Anglican calendar on 4th December. Jilian, who has a personal connection with Little Gidding, gave a very interesting talk on him last Sunday, which is now available to download.
